Racha Yai Dive Sites

Racha Yai dive sites along with Racha Noi are the two most popular dives locations in the region. Only an hour and a half boat ride from Chalong Bay, Phuket it is visually stunning they provides a diverse range of marine life which is accessible to all levels of divers. Both islands are ideal for beginner divers and there is one of the best and safest places in the region to begin your PADI Open Water Course or Discover Scuba Diving adventure.

Both islands can also be named Raya and Raja island. Loosely Racha and Raja mean king in Thai and Indian respectively and Yai (big) and Noi (little) in Thai so you have Big King, Little King islands. Racha Yai is an inhabited island with three resorts, a selection of Thai restaurants, and even a small local school.

Phuket’s most popular day trip. Accessible to all levels of divers and snorkelers. Coral begins almost immediately at the waters edge and starts to taper off around the 20 metre mark. The east side contains majority of the dive sites and is popular during the summer months May to November. Good visibility that usually averages around the 20 metre mark. A partially good and recommended beginners dive site.
