There are not too many seasoned scuba divers that don’t wish to scuba dive with a whale shark. They are the holy grail of scuba diving and the dream of many scuba divers both novice and professional.
Without any formal documentation it appears that sighting of whale sharks is on the rise from years past.
Although still a rare sighting, here in Phuket weekly sightings are now becoming common. As always, whale sharks do what they want, when they want wherever they want.

Yesterday we went scuba diving with Jake and Tara as they did their PADI Advanced Open Water Course with Aussie Divers Phuket. We headed off to the Phi Phi Island group for two dives and a third dive at Shark Point on the way back. This was the second time Jake and Tara had done this trip, the first was a few days earlier for the PADI Open Water Course. What to Expect During Your PADI Advanced Open Water Course?
Here is a step by step description what to expect during your PADI Advanced Open Water Course.
Your PADI Advanced Open Water course will begin with a hotel transfer at between 7:15 and 7:30am from your hotel. You will be then taken to the pier at Ao Chalong where you will be met by you PADI Instructor for the course.
After you have set up your equipment and helped yourself to some freshly cooked breakfast your PADI instructor will then brief you on a range of different things including the boat, the days dive sites, the dive conditions and what you are likely to see on the day.

Here is a step by step guide to the typical typical PADI Discover Scuba Diving Day with Aussie Divers Phuket.
Your PADI Discover Scuba Diving day will typically start with a 7:30 am pick up from your hotel where you will be transported to the Chalong Pier where all the scuba diving and snorkeling boats depart from. This is about 20 minutes drive from Patong Beach.

By far my favorite creatures to see whist scuba diving around Phuket is the Giant Manta Ray. Often compared with the Whale Shark as the most sort after underwater creature to see whilst scuba diving. I consider these majestic creatures as number one because they are more regularly sighted and interact better with scuba divers. Manta Rays often come very close to scuba divers, circling divers and can come within a metre of lucky divers.
