Do I Need to Know How To Swim to Scuba Dive?
This is a question that I often get asked, and really it is not as simple as YES or NO. Here is some explanations and reasons why.
If you want to become a certified scuba diver by doing the PADI Open Water Diver Course, the answer is yes. In the PADI Open Water Diver Course it is specified that you have to be able to swim continuously for 200 metres. This can be with any stroke however it does need to be continuous without stopping. There is alternate option and that is you do a 300 metre mask, fin and snorkel swim. Some do find this easier to the 200 swim.

Killer Whale Spotted Off Patong
The Phuket Post reported that an Orca (Killer Whale) has been spotted off Freedom Beach, Patong on the 8th January 2016.
Freedom Beach is is situated near Tri Trang Beach on the southern edge of Patong Bay Phuket.
The Phuket Post wrote;
The Orca or Killer Whales can be found in all oceans, from Arctic and Antarctic regions to tropical seas. Killer whales are highly social; some populations are composed of matrilineal family groups which are the most stable of any animal species, but there is only one single Orca seen in the picture.

Can I Fly After Scuba Diving?
Flying after scuba diving is possibly one of the most asked questions when booking a day trip or PADI course here in Phuket, Thailand. "When is it safe to fly? Can i fly the same day as scuba diving? If i finish my course on Friday can i fly that night?" This question is covered in all beginners Open Water Course's, however the recommendations do change from time to time, and if you haven't dived in a while you may have simply forgotten some dive theory (perhaps you need a refresher?). Manta Ray Party Happening at Koh Bon, Similan Islands
Book yourself a liveaboard trip now as there is a Manta Ray party happening at Koh Bon.Koh Bon is situated 20 km north of the Similan Islands.

By far my favorite creatures to see whist scuba diving around Phuket is the Giant Manta Ray. Often compared with the Whale Shark as the most sort after underwater creature to see whilst scuba diving. I consider these majestic creatures as number one because they are more regularly sighted and interact better with scuba divers. Manta Rays often come very close to scuba divers, circling divers and can come within a metre of lucky divers. What is the water temperature for scuba diving in Phuket Thailand
We often get asked what will be the water temperature when scuba diving in Phuket of Thailand. Phuket is fortunate that our water temperature is very stable and does not fluctuate much and has some of the warmest waters in the world.
Generally the water temperature in and around Phuket is normally a very comfortable 29 degrees Celsius. With a long run of overcast days it may drop to a chilly 28 degrees and if we get an extended run of warm sunny weather it could reach 30 degrees Celsius.
Occasionally we have thermoclines come through that will reduce the temperature to 27 - 28 degrees however they are rare.
