Anemone Reef

Anemone Reef Scuba Diving Day Trip Aussie Divers Phuket Best

Overview

Anemone Reef is one of the most breathtaking scuba diving sites in the Phuket area, renowned for its stunning underwater scenery and rich marine biodiversity. This submerged pinnacle, with its tip just five meters below the surface, is covered in a vibrant carpet of anemones that create a mesmerizing underwater landscape. The sheer beauty of the anemones swaying in the current, combined with the prolific marine life, makes Anemone Reef a must-visit for divers. The site is home to a wide variety of marine creatures, including turtles, leopard sharks, cuttlefish, seahorses, and sea snakes. Divers can also spot an array of eels, including the rare zebra moray, and a plethora of fish species such as barracuda, snappers, groupers, butterflyfish, scorpionfish, trevally, angelfish, and numerous anemonefish.

Despite its allure, Anemone Reef is not always included in regular day trips due to its challenging conditions. The site can be affected by strong currents and variable visibility, which sometimes makes it less suitable for beginner divers. However, with careful planning and favourable conditions, divers of all levels can experience the magic of Anemone Reef. The site is particularly rewarding for those who appreciate vibrant marine ecosystems and are looking for a unique diving adventure.

Located approximately a two-hour boat ride from Chalong Bay, Phuket, Anemone Reef is sometimes dived as part of a three-dive day trip, in combination with other popular sites such as the Phi Phi Islands, Shark Point, King Cruiser Wreck, and Koh Doc Mai. This combination offers divers a diverse and exciting day of underwater exploration, showcasing some of the best dive sites the region has to offer. Each site provides a different experience, from the colourful reefs of Anemone Reef to the intriguing wrecks and diverse marine life of the other locations.

Anemone Reef stands out as a must-do dive site when planning scuba diving in Phuket. Its unique beauty and the abundance of marine life make it a highlight of any diving trip. While it may not always be on the itinerary, if conditions are favourable, boats may stop here to allow divers to explore this underwater paradise. The chance to dive at Anemone Reef is an unforgettable experience that showcases the natural wonders of Phuket’s marine environment.

Getting There

Dive boats go to Phi Phi & Shark Point every day of the week (weather permitting) as a part of the Phi Phi & Shark Point, 3 dive day trip from Phuket. This dive site can also be part of the King Cruiser, Shark Point day trip for Advanced divers.

All scuba diving sites are chosen at the discretion of the tour leader on the day of the dive. The selection of dive sites depends on weather conditions, currents, safety considerations, and the suitability for the majority of divers on the boat. Therefore, we cannot guarantee specific dive sites before the boat departs.
