Koh Tachai
Overview
Koh Tachai is another 20 km north of Koh Bon has two interesting dive locations, one being the southern pinnacles and the other the eastern reef. Some fantastic boulder dive and swim throughs. Plenty of Leopard sharks and large rays are located at depth on the sandy bottoms and there often can be large schools of barracuda, travelly and snappers. And if you are good enough Frog fish can be located here although they are difficult to locate. Closed to divers between mid May and late October each year.
The best way to get to Koh Tachai is via one of the many liveaboards that travel up there through October to May.
During the start of the 2012 – 2013 liveaboard season there were excellent sightings the giant manta rays there.
