Waterfall Bay – Island 8
Overview
Waterfall Bay is located on the north west side of Koh Similan AKA Island 8 it nestles just south of Turtle Rock.
Named after the waterfall which runs from the top of the island and if flowing allows boats to refill with fresh water.
Considered an easy dive site its gentle slopes reach a maximum depth of 20 metres. And has some nice sandy areas for beginner divers.
Consisting of a nice mix of hard and soft corals blending amongst some small rocky formations. The further north you head the rock turn into boulders which makes for a diverse dive. Sharks and the rare shovel nose ray have been located around the rocky out crop so keep your eyes open.
Turtles are frequent sightings here along with your common reef life and plenty of lobsters.
Often used for a night dive the large number of shrimps, crabs and lobsters make for an interesting dive.
This dive site is easily dived by all levels, visibility is often between 15 -20 metres and currents range between mild and moderate.
A popular bay for the liveaboard vessels to moor at night.
