National Park Fees introduced To Scuba Diving Phi Phi

The Thailand National Parks office informed the Phuket scuba diving industry on the 23rd March 2016 that they have introduced a daily fees for divers entering the Phi Phi Islands national park.

This is similar to what is currently in place for the liveaboard adventures that visit the Similan and Surin National Parks.

This effectively means there will be a fee of THB 600 for every diver and THB 400 for every non-diver that visits Koh Phi Phi National Park. Fees will be payable in cash on the boat when entering Phi Phi

The fee is intended to help preserve the stunning marine fauna and flora found in the Koh Phi Phi National Park.

This has been a topic of discussion for many years now. The authorities will officially implement the fees from 1st April 2016 with the fee being paid in cash to park officials on the dive day.

Unfortunately this will increase the prices of our day trips to Phi Phi and PADI Open Water Courses and PADI Advanced Open Water Courses that involving diving Phi Phi.

2019 Update

There has been some conjecture about the Phi Phi Park Fees. The park rangers often board the scuba diving vessels while divers are in the water. They have been demanding a quick exchange to purchase the park fee tickets.

This method of transaction means that the tour leaders of the boats need to collect the cash for the fees in the morning. It is then handed to the Park rangers when they arrive. This method of transaction have some divers questioning the validity as the transaction is not witnessed by them.

The Park Rangers have been issuing two official tickets per person to the boat operator. One tick is a THB 400 park entry and one is a THB 200 ticket for scuba diving. These tickets should then be distributed to the divers after the transaction.

Although the Park Rangers method of collection seems unorthodox we do believe that the fees and transactions are legitimate.

We do recommend to all divers that the make sure that they get those two tickets at the end of the day. If there is any doubt please do not hesitate contacting the Aussie Divers staff.

Do I Need to Know How To Swim to Scuba Dive?

This is a question that I often get asked, and really it is not as simple as YES or NO. Here is some explanations and reasons why. If you want to become a certified scuba diver by doing the PADI Open Water Diver Course, the answer is yes. New Diver Medical Questionnaire Released

On the 25th June 2020, DAN (Divers Alert Network), WRSTC (World Recreational Scuba Training Council), RSTC (Recreational Scuba Training Council) and the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society released a new diver medical questionnaire.
