Instructor Examination
Schedule
The PADI Instructor Exam (IE) weekend in Phuket is the final assessment in your journey to becoming a certified Open Water Scuba Diving Instructor. Conducted over two rigorous days, the exam is designed to ensure that only the most qualified divers join the PADI professional ranks. During this intensive weekend, you will have the opportunity to showcase your knowledge, teaching skills, and practical abilities. Successful candidates will graduate as PADI Instructors, ready to inspire and lead the next generation of divers.
The IE is divided into four main components.Â
The first component is the written exams, where you will be tested on your knowledge of dive theory and PADI standards. This segment evaluates your understanding of key concepts and your ability to apply them in various diving scenarios.Â
The second component is the classroom presentation, which assesses your skills in delivering effective and engaging educational sessions. You will be required to present a topic to the examiners, demonstrating your ability to communicate information clearly and confidently.
The third component focuses on confined water teaching, where you will be assessed on your ability to conduct pool skills and ensure student safety. This segment requires you to demonstrate and evaluate essential diving skills in a controlled environment.Â
The final component is open water teaching, which involves leading students in real-world diving conditions. You will need to showcase your ability to teach skills in the open water and manage a group of divers. Additionally, there will be a rescue assessment, where you will demonstrate your proficiency in performing a rescue scenario. This comprehensive evaluation, conducted by a PADI Instructor Examiner, ensures that you are fully prepared to become a successful and effective PADI Instructor.
