4 Day / 4 Night Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Richelieu Rock – 14 dives

Book fast as spaces will not be available for too much longer.

MV Andaman Tritan is not the largest liveaboard cruising the Similan Islands, Surin Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock but with a maximum of 18 guests it never feels over crowded and you won’t find to many cheaper options for an ensuite cabin on a 4 day/4 night safari.

Built in 2002 and completely refurbished in 2007 the boat is clean and nicely furnished. A good size dive deck ensures there’s plenty of space to kit up and enter the clear waters of the Andaman Sea. The small yet well equipped air-conditioned saloon has all the mod-cons. There’s a generous outside shaded area where the excellent meals are served and a sundeck up top for tanning and taking in the stunning the views of the stunning Similan Islands.

Do I Need to Know How To Swim to Scuba Dive?

This is a question that I often get asked, and really it is not as simple as YES or NO. If you want to become a certified scuba diver by doing the PADI Open Water Diver Course then the answer is yes. In the PADI Open Water Diver Course it is specified that you have to be able to swim 200 metres with any stroke and also have to be able to tread water or float for at least 10 minutes. The reason for this is not for the fact that scuba diving requires you to swim, but rather it is for yours and your groups safety. In the unlikely event that your BCD (Buoyancy Control Device) was to falter then there would be no device to keep you afloa [...]

Has Kata Beach Dive Become A Serious Certified Divers Site?

In the past the Kata Beach dive was used more as a necessity and beginners dive rather than a dive site for certified divers. It is a dive site that can only be dived during the high season, October/November through to late April. The change of winds during the low season has the wind coming directly from the west and straight into the beach. These create high waves and increases underwater movement, reducing visibility and pushes trash into the dive site. The high season winds come from the east and make for better beach dive conditions. Kata Beach is quite a shallow dive site and given it proximity the heavily populated Ph [...]

Why I love to Teach Scuba Diving

Why I love to Teach Scuba Diving In 2008 I quit a perfectly good and well paying job to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor here in Phuket. It was a decision that was made with some apprehension however it is a choice that I have never regretted. I have been fortunate enough to progress through the PADI ranks and now made it to the highest PADI instructor rating, the PADI Master Instructor. Being a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor or PADI Master Instructor opens up a world of different job opportunities in a vast range of countries and environments and gives you the opportunity to meet people from a vast range of nationalities [...]

Becoming a PADI Rescue Diver

“The best moments in our lives are not the passive, receptive, relaxing times… The best moments usually occur if a person’s body or mind is stretched to its limits in a voluntary effort to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile.” ~ Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi One of the best ways to boost your dive confidence and level of experience is to do the PADI Rescue Course. Have you ever been diving with a group of divers and a PADI pro, maybe a divemaster or instructor as a guide, and wondered how the guide seems to be so confident and comfortable underwater? The answer may be simpler than you think! The PADI Rescue cours [...]
