As many scuba divers know the Similan Islands are currently closed and should be re-opening around the 15th October. Due to COVID travel restrictions soem liveaboard operatiors will not start until December.

The 2020/21 Similan Islands Season
Last season the Similan Islands offered up some fantastic diving. With some of the largest numbers of both Whale Sharks & manta ray seen over the season. Several trips in 2019 & early 2020 had sightings of both Mantas & Whalesharks. Some trips even had multiple sightings on different dive sites.
The best fish life is always found at the dive sites in the North of Similans like Richelieu Rock, Koh Tachai & Koh Bon. To reach these better dive sites you should look at doing the 4d/4n or 5d/5n trips, as most of the longer trips will include Similan Islands + the norhtern islands.
Similan Islands is not just about the “big favourites’ though. The season also had a lot of other amazing critters, including turtles, sharks, larger pelagic’s and heaps of awesome macro life. The weather god’s did not disappoint this season. With most trips sailing in nice calm waters and reports of “gin” clear water having 40m visibility or more.
