Obituary

In 2019 Tanguy was tragically taken from us. He will be forever remembered as a great human and a generally wonderful person. It was an honour to have taught him his PADI Instructor Development Course and he was an outstanding student. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by the Aussie Divers team. A very sad loss.

I decided to become a dive instructor 3 years ago. I wanted out of the European stress and completely change lifestyle but I didn’t want to do that in a hurry or the cheapest and fastest way, what I wanted was a good diving education.
So after few years of practice, AOW, Rescue and DM course in Belgium, I started looking online for the right place to do my IDC….and it’s a dive center in Indonesia(kind of far from Phuket) who recommended me Aussie Divers Phuket.
I checked it out and after all the good critics I read (over 1000), I thought: This can only be a great place to do it. And I was right!!

After a long journey, I finally arrived and the team who was there made me feel like home straight away. I would even consider some of them as friends now.
You get free accommodation during your stay, and rooms are just above the classroom which is great.
English is not my first language so I was a bit worry to do all the course in English but Darren Gaspari, the owner and Course Director, made the classroom theory real smooth, he talks clearly, explain things in an easy way and he always has good and funny stories to tell, linked to course obviously.

When I first started, I was not good at oral presentation for instance but every day you have “homework”, you practice, you get feedback and every day you improve by so much. Same for the practical part in the pool.
After 2 weeks of intense training comes the IE weekend, of course I was stressed out but I think Darren was even more stressed than us. He really wants everyone to succeed, he takes it really personally and the results are there…we all succeed easily, I even get 5/5 on my oral presentation!

Anyway, I was very glad that I have chosen this 5 star dive center to do my IDC, I would recommend it without any hesitation and now that I started my dive career, I can tell this place is highly professional and that I would love to work for them maybe one day :)
