Green Island

Green Island

Green Island

Green Island is a small rarely dived island that is due south of Shark Point and about an hour boat ride west of the Phi Phi Islands.

It doesn’t provide the same quality of diving as either Shark Point or Phi Phi hence the lack of appeal for the day trip boats to stop there.

It is a small circular island with a sparse mixture coral and rocks. The southern side of the island is basically a flat sandy sea bed with not much marine life. Having said this there are constant rumours that say there is colony of leopard sharks that reside there.

The north side is made up of hard corals and are becoming reasonably healthy over the years. There are you the common reef in attendance with some nice schools of snappers present. The reef is also home to other creatures such as turtles, cuttlefish and octopus.

If she was not surrounded by the better dive sites of Phi Phi, Shark Point and Anemone Reef she would probably be dived a lot more regularly.

One of here down sides is that she is a popular site with the local fisherman and often quite a number of fish cages and fish netting can be found there.

Getting There

Currently there are no dive operators with scheduled trips to Green Island
