Low Season Diving in Phuket
Dont let the forecasts fool you Firstly don't always believe the online weather forecast's. With the high humidity, we have year round here in Phuket, a lot of the online weather sites & App's will simply predict thunderstorms & rain 365 days of the year. They are happy to get this correct maybe 40% of the time..... We actually still have some very nice sunny days during the monsoonal season, and the diving can still be really good. Plus the beaches are less crowded and airfares & accommodation much cheaper, it's sounding like a win-win all round! If you are looking for a local forecast site/app we generally recommend looking at [...] Read The Story Everything Else

What is the Underwater Visibility Like in Phuket?
A question that we often get asked here is “Is the visibility good?” Good visibility and bad visibility is a subjective thing and people when commenting should be giving an example of what level of visibility they are comparing it too or with. For example, a diver that regularly dives in lake or quarries and they compare to that, may think the visibility is good. Those that regularly dive in deep waters may think that that the visibility is poor. We regularly have divers from both spectrums and then can arrive back from the same dive trip and one saying the visibility is good and the other saying it is not good. There are a [...] Read The Story Everything Else
Is Scuba Diving Deep Better?
I am often a little miffed when I receive emails asking about depths of dives and the thought of seeing more when deeper. It is one of scuba diving’s greatest myths that when going deeper you will see more creatures. Coral reefs require clear water and sunlight to flourish and most of the best coral is found closer to the surface. The healthier the coral reef is the more marine life will be present. Many fish graze off corals and the coral becomes their major food source. More coral should equal more fish. The closer you are to the surface the more light there is making it easier to see things. The easier it is to see thing t [...] Read The Story Everything Else

Why you should have Travel Insurance
While individual circumstances may vary, Aussie Divers Phuket highly recommends to anyone planning to visit Thailand and Southeast Asia to invest in travel insurance. Altho scuba diving is a relatively low risk activity, as long as you listen to your instructor/guide, travel insurance is cheap these days. It really can go a long way in any accident, emergency or cancellations/delays whilst travelling. Many travellers to Thailand & Southeast Asia hold a perception that as basic medical care is relatively cheap, there's little need for travel insurance. While it is true that basic healthcare in Southeast Asia can be cheap, the emphasis s [...] Read The Story
