Is Phuket, Thailand a Good Place to Learn to Scuba Dive?
Often divers who wish to learn to scuba dive are faced with a decision to learn in their home country or away. Learning to scuba diving in Phuket has its distinct advantages. 1. The Water is Warm Let's face it who likes to be cold? The water temperature in Phuket is generally around 29 degrees Celsius. Not only is more fun to be in but it is easier to stay focused. When you are cold a considerable amount to your body's energy is used to keep you warm. Less energy is available for concentration and focus. Further warm environments also make us happier. Warm water is easier to dive in. Most divers in and around Phuket can comfortably dive in a 3mm short wetsuit. [...] Read The Story Other Activities

Has Kata Beach Dive Become A Serious Certified Divers Site?
In the past the Kata Beach dive was used more as a necessity and beginners dive rather than a dive site for certified divers. It is a dive site that can only be dived during the high season, October/November through to late April. The change of winds during the low season has the wind coming directly from the west and straight into the beach. These create high waves and increases underwater movement, reducing visibility and pushes trash into the dive site. The high season winds come from the east and make for better beach dive conditions. Kata Beach is quite a shallow dive site and given it proximity the heavily populated Phuket island, visibility is not always the best. However with some [...] Read The Story Everything Else
Why you should have Travel Insurance
While individual circumstances may vary, Aussie Divers Phuket highly recommends to anyone planning to visit Thailand and Southeast Asia to invest in travel insurance. Altho scuba diving is a relatively low risk activity, as long as you listen to your instructor/guide, travel insurance is cheap these days. It really can go a long way in any accident, emergency or cancellations/delays whilst travelling. Many travellers to Thailand & Southeast Asia hold a perception that as basic medical care is relatively cheap, there's little need for travel insurance. While it is true that basic healthcare in Southeast Asia can be cheap, the emphasis should be on the word basic — not cheap. True, Thailand does have a higher standard of medical care than other [...] Read The Story Helpful Diving Info
Can I Fly After Scuba Diving?
Flying after scuba diving is possibly one of the most asked questions when booking a day trip or PADI course here in Phuket, Thailand. "When is it safe to fly? Can i fly the same day as scuba diving? If i finish my course on Friday can i fly that night?" This question is covered in all beginners Open Water Course's, however the recommendations do change from time to time, and if you haven't dived in a while you may have simply forgotten some dive theory (perhaps you need a refresher?). There are also a few different numbers thrown around when asking people in the dive community, 12 hours? 8 hours? 24 hours? Single dives – A minimum pre-flight surface interval [...] Read The Story Helpful Diving Info
PADI Discover Scuba Diving – Your Safety – Avoid the Risks – Phuket
Some years ago PADI introduced the PADI Discover Scuba Diving into their system. They did so to give divers a taste of scuba diving prior to signing up for the full PADI Open Water Course. PADI intended the Discover Scuba Diving to be a brief introduction into the underwater realm. They intended to be a short 10 – 15 minute experience and thus designed the activity as such. Somewhere over time the PADI Discover Scuba Diving has turned into full days diving, with multiple and to dive sites the same as certified dives. The structure of the theory and practical skills for activity was designed for a very short period under the water. The full days diving to experienced [...] Read The Story News & Special Offers
