About PADI AWARE
The PADI AWARE Foundation is a publicly funded non-profit organization with a mission to address key threats facing the marine environment. Supported by the PADI brand and the world’s largest network of dive centers, resorts, and instructors, the foundation leverages the collective influence of divers and the dive industry to protect our oceans.Â
PADI AWARE offers four specialized courses designed to educate and engage divers in marine conservation efforts. The AWARE Shark Conservation course focuses on the importance of sharks to marine ecosystems, teaching divers how to protect these vital species. The AWARE Coral Conservation course highlights the significance of coral reefs and provides strategies for their preservation. The AWARE Dive Against Debris specialty empowers divers to actively participate in underwater cleanups, helping to remove marine debris and collect data to inform global waste management policies. Lastly, the AWARE Specialty provides a broad understanding of ocean conservation issues and how divers can contribute to the health of our oceans. These courses not only enhance your diving experience but also enable you to play a crucial role in preserving the underwater world for future generations.
AWARE Shark Conservation
Min Age 12+ | Open Water Certification | Minimum 2 Dives
Sharks are vital for maintaining a healthy ocean ecosystem. The PADI AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty course delves into the critical role sharks play in marine environments, examining their vulnerability and the importance of sustaining healthy shark populations. Throughout the course, you’ll learn about the various threats sharks face, such as overfishing, bycatch, and habitat loss.Â
The course also equips you with practical knowledge and skills to take action in protecting sharks. You’ll explore the reasons behind the decline in shark populations and discover the steps you can take to become a knowledgeable and passionate shark defender. AWARE Dive Against Debris
Min Age 10+ | Open Water Certification | Minimum 2 Dives
Activate your inner citizen scientist and make a difference on every dive with the AWARE Dive Against Debris Diver Specialty course. Learn how to conduct ocean cleanups that keep local dive sites healthy while contributing to a global database on marine debris.
