DAN World’s short-term daily dive accident insurance is designed specifically for holiday divers and short dive trips, providing flexible and affordable protection when you need it most. This coverage includes up to US$125,000 in dive accident medical expenses in the event of a dive-related accident, helping to cover the costs of treatment, hyperbaric chamber care, and emergency medical support. In addition to dive accident assistance, DAN Worldwide Membership also offers the option to include annual travel assistance coverage, making it an ideal solution for divers who travel regularly. DAN Student Medical Coverage
As part of your PADI Open Water course, students are covered under the DAN Student Membership Program, which is provided through a partnership between PADI and Divers Alert Network (DAN). This program includes Student Dive Accident Insurance designed specifically for new divers during their training period and provides up to US$25,000 in dive accident coverage for covered incidents that occur during entry-level scuba or breath-hold diving training.
The insurance is valid from the time of enrollment until the completion of your final certifying dive, or for up to 26 weeks, whichever comes first. It covers dive-related injuries such as decompression sickness (DCS), arterial gas embolism (AGE), and other covered diving accidents that may occur both in and out of the water during your training. Coverage is available to students aged 8 and over and under 70 years of age, offering added reassurance while you build your skills and confidence underwater.
In addition to insurance coverage, DAN Student Membership provides access to a 24/7 Emergency Hotline, staffed year-round by doctors, nurses, and paramedics who specialize in dive medicine and emergency response. Students also benefit from DAN’s Medical Information Line for non-urgent questions about fitness to dive, medications, and dive physiology, along with a range of safety and education resources including digital guides for new divers, safety libraries, and access to Alert Diver magazine.
Together, the PADI–DAN partnership ensures that student divers are supported not only with world-class training, but also with professional medical assistance and safety resources throughout their Open Water course experience.

In Case of Emergency
Notification Requirement
If you become ill or injured, you should immediately proceed to the closest emergency medical facility. In the event of an accident or injury covered by this policy, you must immediately contact DAN World to confirm coverage and obtain a guarantee of payment for any medical services to be rendered. If circumstances exist which prevent you from contacting DAN World immediately, you must notify DAN World as soon as possible under the circumstances.
How to File a Claim
You must give DAN World written notice of a claim within ten (10) days after the loss occurs. To submit a claim, obtain claim forms or request additional information on how to report a claim, please contact:Â
