Shark Point, Anemone Reef & Koh Doc Mai
Scuba Diving Day Trip Phuket
Overview
The Anemone Reef day trip is a special trip, only available once per week (weather permitting), every Wednesday.
Looking for something a little different? This day trip is perfect for experienced divers, offering three dives around sites like Anemone Reef, Shark Point, and Koh Doc Mai. This adventure is tailored for those seeking a more challenging and rewarding diving experience.
This special day trip is scheduled only once a week, every Wednesday, with dive sites subject to change based on weather and diving conditions to ensure the best and safest experience for all divers.
It is recommended to have recent dive experience before participating in this day trip to Anemone Reef and Shark Point, as these dive sites can present challenging conditions best suited for experienced divers.
Anemone Reef
Anemone Reef is a submerged pinnacle completely covered in vibrant soft corals and colourful anemones, which give the site its name. The reef is home to a wide variety of marine life, making it a diver’s paradise. Depending on the season and a bit of luck, you might spot ghost pipefish, seahorses, frogfish, and more commonly lionfish, moray eels, and large schools of snappers and barracudas. While currents can be strong, experienced divers will find this site both challenging and exhilarating, with its incredible underwater landscapes teeming with life.
Shark Point
Shark Point, named for the leopard sharks that frequent its sandy bottoms, consists of three main pinnacles running from north to south, getting progressively deeper. The site features beautiful Giant Gorgonian Fan Corals, barrel sponges, and colourful anemones, attracting diverse marine life such as ghost pipefish, seahorses, Kuhl’s stingrays, and cuttlefish. Though strong currents and rough seas make it more suitable for experienced divers, careful planning allows novice divers to enjoy this stunning site.
Koh Doc Mai
Koh Doc Mai, meaning “Flower Island,” is a beautiful limestone island located about an hour and 15 minutes from Chalong Bay. Known for its fantastic wall dive, it offers some of Phuket’s best macro marine life. The site can be affected by strong currents and poor visibility, but on a good day, it is one of the best dives in the area. With two small caverns at 13 and 18 meters, the site is perfect for exploring small nooks and crannies. Divers will find eels, shrimp, and a variety of nudibranchs, making it a macro photographer’s dream. Bamboo sharks and the occasional whale shark add to the excitement of this dive site, best appreciated by more experienced divers.
