Pileh Wall Phi Phi Lay

Palong Wall North Phi Phi Ley Black Tip Reef Shark Day Trip Scuba Diving

Overview

Pileh Wall, located along Phi Phi Ley Island’s east coast, south of the entrance to the famous Pileh Lagoon, is a stunning dive site that offers a unique underwater experience. With its fairly shallow depth and mild currents, Pileh Wall is ideal for an easy and relaxed dive. The site primarily features a sheer limestone cliff that continues straight underwater, creating a vertical wall dive that stands out from other dive sites around the Phi Phi Islands. The wall is adorned with a variety of soft corals and Gorgonian sea fans, providing a vibrant and colourful backdrop for divers.

Diving along Pileh Wall is like exploring an underwater canyon, with numerous cracks and crevices harbouring different species of shrimps and moray eels. Keen-eyed divers can also spot colourful nudibranchs clinging to the rocks. The dive site reaches a depth of around 18 meters at its deepest point, offering a scenic underwater journey. Midway along the wall, there is a tiny bay where the sheer cliff temporarily transforms into a sloping reef. This area is dotted with coral bommies scattered across the sandy slope, adding variety to the dive and making it an interesting spot to explore.

The marine life at Pileh Wall is abundant and diverse. Hawksbill turtles are often seen cruising along the wall, so divers should keep an eye out both above and below to catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures. The way the sunlight filters through the water and illuminates the wall is truly mesmerizing, enhancing the overall diving experience. Leopard sharks have also been spotted at this site, so it’s worth checking the sandy areas below for these elusive predators. The combination of vibrant reef fish, colourful corals, and the occasional sighting of larger marine animals makes Pileh Wall a dive site rich with underwater life.

As the wall eventually flattens out towards the end of the dive, divers can enjoy a gradual ascent closer to the island. This area is home to moray eels, banded sea snakes, and the broadclub cuttlefish. Each dive at Pileh Wall offers something new, from the intricate details of macro life to the grandeur of larger marine species. While Pileh Lagoon itself is not a dive site, it is one of the most photogenic locations around the islands, making it a perfect spot for a surface interval. Overall, Pileh Wall provides a spectacular diving experience with its unique underwater scenery and diverse marine life, making it a must-visit site for divers exploring Phi Phi Ley.

Getting There

Dive boats go to Phi Phi & Shark Point every day of the week (weather permitting) as a part of the Phi Phi & Shark Point, 3 dive day trip from Phuket.

All scuba diving sites are chosen at the discretion of the tour leader on the day of the dive. The selection of dive sites depends on weather conditions, currents, safety considerations, and the suitability for the majority of divers on the boat. Therefore, we cannot guarantee specific dive sites before the boat departs.
