Dealing with coral cuts and scrapes is a common part of scuba diving and here is some tips on how to treat them.
Although scuba divers do their best not touch coral, accident contact does occur. This can cause itching, burning sensations, pain and sometimes rashes. These injuries can take weeks, even months to heal.
Here we will look at why this is so and what we can do to treat these injuries if they occur.

Family Scuba Diving Koh Tao Songkran 2021
Despite the challenges of COVID-19 restrictions Aussie Divers was still able to conduct some great family scuba diving in Koh Tao over the 2021 Songkran break.
Dominated by families Aussie Divers was able to conduct PADI Bubblemaker, PADI Discover Scuba Diving, PADI Open Water training and some certified diver’s trips.
The easy diving and the shorter day trips make Koh Tao an ideal beginner’s dive destination. With morning and afternoon dives adds more flexibility in planning dive trips. Most morning trips arriving back in time to have lunch in one of the many secluded beachfront restaurants.

Has COVID Restrictions Improved Diving in Thailand
There is no doubt that COVID has taken a lot from the tourism in Thailand, especially the scuba diving sector. However, with the lack of tourists (and divers) there is a reduction in the negative impacts on the environment. With less boat traffic, divers, snorkelers, coral damaging sunscreen and less fishing vessels due to the lack of demand of seafood the strain has been greatly reduced. It appears that the COVID restrictions has improved diving in Thailand.
Although the lack of divers and tourists has not pleased business owners and those employed in the tourism industry, it appears to be having a positive impact on mother nature.

What Drives Me During COVID
What Drives me during COVID? During 2020 I repetitively heard comments to stay positive during these COVID times. These were always done with the best of intentions of the speaker. Often doing their best to keep everyone upbeat during some pretty tough times. As there was no international tourism, the scuba diving industry in Thailand was hit hard.

Was the curse of the whale shark fact or fiction?
My first effort at scuba diving was a PADI Discover Scuba Diving way back in 2006. Back then I had never heard of a Whale Shark. A year later I became a certified diver and I was still none the wiser of the Holy Grail of marine creatures. I am not sure when in the following 3,500 + dives I became aware of them, but as with most underwater creatures that pass by the waters of Thailand, I just assumed a matter of time before I saw one…… or was it?
